Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the questions you may have below! If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Does my child or family need to speak Spanish?

No, children learn by being exposed to the language. Our teachers also speak English, so they can help children transition to the Spanish language environment. Children do not have to know Spanish or speak Spanish at home to successfully become fluent. If you would like to incorporate Spanish at home, see our Parent Resources page.

How long will it take my child to speak Spanish?

How long it takes your child to speak Spanish will depend on your child's age, prior knowledge level, and unique language acquisition timeline, but you can expect your child to begin saying and identifying some words in Spanish after a brief "silent period" of initial acquisition. To achieve full fluency, we recommend that children attend an immersion program for numerous years. However, children will benefit from any amount of Spanish they acquire.

What are your COVID-19 protocols?

The health and safety of the children in our care is of the utmost importance to us. When children (and teachers) arrive, they will wash their hands. All spaces used by the children will be thoroughly sanitized daily, as well as throughout the day as needed. If there is a COVID case at the school, all families will be notified immediately.

What are your hours of operation and program options?

Mi Mundito Montessori is open from 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We offer "school day" hours (7:30am to 3pm) as well as extended care (3pm to 5pm).

What types of activites will the children participate in?

Each day the children will be engaged in one to two Montessori work cycles (including language, literacy, and fine motor shelf work activities), circle time (including lessons on grace and courtesy and culture), outdoor and gross motor play time, practical life activities (including food preparation), art, music, and sensory play.

What ages do you serve?

We serve birth through four-year-olds. Our mixed-age classroom follows the Montessori philosophy that allows children to benefit from interacting with peers who are both younger and older. Children will be split up by age group for some activities as is appropriate, such as for certain lessons. Our program is a full preschool program that children will leave prepared academically, socially and practically for Pre-K or Kindergarten.
